Pa Pa's 85th Birthday Celebration

Papa getting some love from Landon, the first great-grandchild :)

Pa looking in the mirror... doing think he knew what to think!

If Papa had done that Cowardly Lion noise, I would have had to mop up a puddle of pee. I was already laughing so hard. He really looks like the Cowardly Lion in this pic. He was totally oblivious, I think.

Papa's new hat... he's styin'... or pimpin??

Papa and his little girlfriend, Miss Doris

We recently celebrated my Papa Batchelor's 85th birthday and one of his favorite restaurants in Nashville... Town & Country, hehe! We had a good crowd of people there. My parents did such a good job putting it all together! Pa Pa calls it, "Town & Kunt'ry" so as a joke, my parents made some posters about eating at the Kunt'ry and such. He thought it was funny, so I'll just leave it at that....

Oh, my great uncle was there and he has to talk with a mechanical device because he had throat cancer. Landon & Cody were there waiting for me to get off of work so that I could meet them at the party. Well, I got a phone call from Cody saying I needed to hurry up and get there because Landon was in hysterics... he's really scared Uncle Glenn's voice. Landon is so scared of loud and weird noises. I hope he grows out of that! Any advice on how to help him overcome this? Anyway, they meet me at the drugstore and all Landon can say is, "Mama, I wanna go home!" He was NOT being a brat... he was truly terrified of Uncle Glenn's voice. We went back anyway and Landon cried so hard in the car, he threw up! Thank goodness we had an extra outfit handy. It took him a while, but Landon got ok and by the end of the night, he told Uncle Glenn "goodnight."

Well, the highlight of the night happened when my daddy got a long red wig out and put it on my Papa in various ways. It got funnier and funnier and I did pee on myself a little. I am so very glad that we had a nice birthday party for Papa.. he deserved it because he's never really had a party before. To end the night, my cousin Gray & I sang "Grandpa Tell Me 'Bout the Good Old Days." That was special to him. I love my Papa!!
P.S. I haven't figured out how to put the pics througout the blog post... sorry!

Some Recent Conversations With Landon

At the age of four, Landon is really making connections about the ways of the world. He's so wise and smart for his age. And he forgets NOTHING!!!!!
So one day last week, we were sitting on the porch trying to cool off. Landon had filled a cup up with water from the waterhose and was sipping on it. Here's how the conversation went down:
Landon: So water is good for us mommy? It makes us feel better when we drink it.
Me: Yep, that's right honey. It is so hot right now, it makes us sweat out water. So when we sweat, it's important to drink some water to replace our sweat, so we don't feel bad.
Landon: Yeah, it keeps us hydrated.
Me: Thinking, "What did my baby just say????" Landon, how did you know that?!
Landon: I don't know mama. I just know these thangs.
Me: Well, did you know that if there was NOOOOO water on the planet that we would all die??
Landon: We would die mama? (after a few moments of turning the wheels in his brain) Well mama, would we all die if we didn't have chocolate milk?
He had the most serious look on his face and I just laughed and laughed! I told him no, of course, but in joking with him I said, "But you might Landawg! You love your chocolate milk soooo much!" Landon's response : "YEP!"
On this same occassion, we talked about dinosaurs being extinct. Then we talked about endangered animals. Well having that four year-old brain, he asked, "Are elephants distinct?" I told him no. So he said, "Well where ARE they??" That was a good question. He's never seen elephants roaming around so I guess he though they were "distinct." He now knows that the elephants live in Africa
Oh I just love being a Mommy! Landon's at such a good, fun age!! He wants to know sooooo much, so we tell him as much as we can as long as it's age appropriate ;)
I can't wait for my baby to start preschool in the Fall. He's never been to a preschool before, so it might take him a while to adjust. Man, next year he goes to KINDERGARTEN!!!
Well, that's all for now! I'm gonna end on a happy note: God is Great!!!

First Time Blogger....

Hello everybody!!! This is my first time blogging on an "official' blogger's website! I'm not sure if I like it that much right now because it was hard to set up a custom page, which I'm still working on! I've been inspired to blog by a friend because you can put more random things on a blog than you can on facebook or myspace. My blogs will mostly be about my four year-old little boy, named Landon. He's my pride and joy! I might also talk about what's going on in my life with God (He's working on my family), school (which I'm about to graduate this December w/ four-year degree, and of course, I'll be talking about my husband, Cody too!!

I look forward to learning how to blog! I hope there will be some interested followers out there. I have some interesting and funny stories to tell!!

GOD BLESS YOU ALL & HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Landon and I attempt to enjoy some fireworks. Landon would not take his hands away from his ears. Once the fireworks started, he cried & cried, so we had to leave :( We were able to see the beautiful fireworks from the car though. Maybe he'll be better next year....... we say that EVERY year, LOL!
